2021 OAKSTEM Tree Request

The City has been awarded 120 trees to be planted in the right-of-way in front of homes through the OAKSTEM grant. The trees are free to residents and all costs associated with the trees and planting will be offset by the grant from the Oakland County Department of Economic Development. Trees will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis until the 120 tree limit is reached.

Tree Request Forms must be submitted by January 31st, 2022 in order to get a tree for the Spring 2022 planting
Your request will be reviewed by DPW within 7-10 business days of submission to determine if the site is appropriate for a tree planting. Approved requests will be emailed a confirmation following the determination.

Maintenance responsibilities fall to the applicant. This includes watering, pruning, and general protection from damage. It is recommended that homeowners conduct the following maintenance for newly planted trees:

Water once a week (20 Gal.)
Protect the tree trunk
Mulch as needed
